Ninja Birthday Cake

I absolutely loved this cake!  I looked online for ideas and everything looked the same.  Then my hubby suggested the bonsai tree and the Japanese arch.  It was exactly what I needed for the cake to stand out!  Everything is edible, minus the wires holding up the little ninja stars.

My favorite part?  The cute little ties coming off the back of the Ninja's head!
Although, I really loved the bonsai tree as well!
Although it's not a 'karate' cake, making this cake really made me think of the movie Karate Kid!  I loved that movie and still do!  Happy birthday Kevin!!

Rose Swirl 1st Birthday Smash Cake

Cute little smash cake for a one year old photo session.  My friend and neighbor took the pictures and did a fabulous job!  You can check out her other photos here.

This was so fun to make and so easy!  I decided I want to make a cake like this for me.  Only me!

'Church Ball' Birthday Cake

Another take on the basketball jersey cake I did a while ago.  This time it was to celebrate the birthday boy's love of church basketball.  His wife teases him that he should marry basketball!  Thus the tie and diamond tie pin.  The pin is the only thing not edible.

Giant cocoa krispie treat!  I used tulle to get the texture on the ball.
Happy birthday Emmitt!!  Hope you had a good one!!

Fun. graduation cupcakes

My sister recently graduated college and it's been a long time coming so there needed to be a significant celebration.  Since said sister is not the most 'social' of people a big, fancy, celebratory party was out of the question.  So what was the next best gift?!  Why, a surprise ticket to a Fun. concert with her big sister and best friend of course!
So best friend and I got together via text messages and Facebook messages and we figured out a way to surprise this lucky sister of mine!  We didn't tell her I was even coming up to her house or about the concert.  We spent WEEKS trying to figure out her favorite flavor of cupcake (which was difficult in itself since she likes it all!)  And we agonized over keeping this all a secret from her!
Her college colors are NOT red and gold, they are actually blue and white, but ewww, how boring!  And since this sister loves Iron Man then red and gold were the perfect solution!
Peanut butter cake with mini Reese's peanut butter cups in the middle then topped with chunky peanut butter frosting and drizzled with melted dark chocolate.  DIVINE!!!
And since she didn't know about the concert yet, this was how we told her when I surprised her on her porch with the cupcakes.  Her reaction was PRICELESS!!  She looked, then looked again at the cakes and said, "REALLY?!?!?!"
And so the three of us had a BLAST rocking it out at the concert!  Best friend and I got to surprise a wonderful person with a wonderful gift, we got to eat some yummy cake and spend some quality time together.  I even got to feel young again!  I think my 5 kids thought I was crazy when I told them about my behavior!
CONGRATS BECCA BOO!!!!!!!!  I LOVE YOU TONS!!!

Small Iron Man Birthday Cake

Okay, so this is a MUCH smaller, less grand version of the last Iron Man cake I made, but it was still fun!  My sweet sister-in-law was busy a newborn and I didn't want her to stress over a cake, so I made this for my nephew!  Kind of last minute, but still fun.
Notice the 'C' and the 'I' stamped into the 'steel' pieces?    I would have liked to do more detail for this cake but I just ran out of time.
Batman was also in the request, so the sides were kind of an upside down Gotham skyline.  The cake was churro flavored with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.  It was so yummy!!  Happy Birthday Carson!  We sure love you to pieces, adorable boy!!

Pink and Ivory Ruffle Wedding Cake

I've been wanting to do a cake like this for a LOOOOONNNNNGGG time!  And lo and behold, I got to do a wedding cake with this fun ruffle that is so popular right now!  This cake is everything feminine and beautiful!  The sugar flowers were so delicate that I think I almost lost my sanity putting them into the cake!  I made the little ivory flowers as I went to fill in the empty spaces.  They were so fun and easy!
My girls and I love how it almost looks like a dress with the satin ribbon around the middle.
Also, it was my first time making a white velvet flavored cake.  It was so heavenly!  My kids claimed it's their favorite cake ever!

My sister and I loved the three little ivory roses here in the front!
Okay, so not EVERYTHING about this cake was feminine and delicate.  The bride wanted her husband to feel special as well so she had me add this tiny helmet of his favorite football team.  What a considerate bride!

This was such a fun cake to make, as I think I say with every cake I make.  But this one really was!  I loved every minute of making this cake!  I'm so glad I got the opportunity to make something so special for such a beautiful bride!  Congratulations, Ashley and Hayden!!

Flags Missionary Homecoming Cake

How fun is this?!  Two missionaries home at the same time from two different countries!  I have to say, the Japanese flag was much easier to do than the Guatemalan flag!

The details were done with edible markers on gum paste.
The tie was red, white and blue, to welcome the Elders back to the USA!
Isn't luster dust awesome?!  Couldn't get that sweet silver shine on the belt buckle!
I really enjoyed making this cake and doing something different for a missionary cake.  I love having new challenges and fun ideas for each cake.  Welcome home Elders, and thank you for serving the Lord!
