"Wicked" Steampunk Smash Cake

Smash cakes are always so  much fun to make.  Sometimes, though, I have to tell myself, "It's okay.  It's okay."  Even though this beautiful cake is going to be smashed, it's still worth making it as pretty as possible!  This photo shoot was a super fun theme!  "Wicked" the broadway musical was our inspiration  If you want to see all the adorable images from the session go here: https://www.facebook.com/BrandiTeuscherPhotography?fref=ts

 Steam punk clock and gold sparkle letters.  Gears and letters all made with modeling chocolate.

 Look how cute!!!  Isn't that setup adorable?!

You can barely see her, but there's a cute little witch to dot the 'i' in Maggie.  It's always fun to try and capture the essence of something very specific!  I think Brandi and I make a great team!  And if you want to check out her other skills please go check out her site.  She's incredible!

"Alice in Wonderland" Teacup Birthday Cake

There is something special and fun about PINK cakes!  And topsy turvy cakes are super fun!  The teacups were a little tricky, but much needed!

 The White Rabbit's clock.  "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!!"  Clock and #1 made of gum paste.

 I strayed a little from the original picture of this cake by making the blue pattern out of the playing card suit symbols!  Gotta get those little details in!

 I really love making gum paste flowers!  And those gold leaves are adorable!

 Do I need help with cakes?!  YES I DO!  I was so busy with cakes this week that my daughter was awesome and made that gold chain by herself!!  She painted it in gold for me too!  THANK YOU RACHEL!!!

 Here's the little smash cake to go with the big cake!  I really adore the rose swirls, and the teacup was painted by my daughter as well.

Okay, so sometimes something goes wrong with a cake.  Something went really wrong with this cake!  I delivered the cake, everything was all good, then I got a very sad message from the mom of the birthday girl.  The teacups had fallen off the cake and broken!  I felt awful cause I was out of town and wasn't able to fix it.  It was truly one of those heart dropping moments when I felt horrible! Live and learn with each cake!!  Please forgive me, Blaire!!!

Such a seriously cute cake and I enjoyed every second of making it!  Happy 1st birthday Morley!!!

Twin Smash Cake Photo Shoot

Brandi did this ADORABLE shoot of the cutest twins ever!!!  (Please go check out her site: http://www.teuscherphotography.com/ cause she's amazing!!  She just did a wedding and the pictures are stunning!)  I love making smash cakes and these ones were extra fun.  They were a little smaller than the other ones I've been making, and they were just the right size!  I'll be doing  more of these!!

My favorite smash cake EVER!!  I loved the shabby chic theme of the photo shoot!  Plus the customer I made it for is fabulous!  Little, rosy cakes are the BEST!

Mickey Mouse Smash Cake

This little smash cake was super duper fun!  Colorful and Mickey Mouse, there's not much that can beat that!!  And the color of the cake ended up a lot brighter than I'd meant it to be, but oh well.  That much more fun for the cute little birthday boy!  And guess what?!?!  Yes, you're right, Brandi took these amazing photos!  I love how they turned out with the fun bouncy balls and banner!  Please check out her other limitless skills here:  http://www.teuscherphotography.com/

Colorful Smash Cake

I absolutely love this picture!  Poor baby was in sugar shock!  And look at those cute little piggies!  Just too much fun!

Purple Rose Swirl Smash Cake

I love doing 'smash cakes' because they are little, and adorable, my friend takes amazing photos of them, and a cute little baby gets to demolish it!!!  I also love how simple this cake is to make.  Swirls of ombre frosting just couldn't be more elegant or easy!  Thank you, Brandi, for your amazing skills and opportunities to make such fun cakes for such tiny little customers!

Pink and Green Smash Cake

I love making smash cakes that are different and special just for the tiny little customer!  The theme was teacups and flowers and the colors were pink and green.  I really wanted to include a teacup somehow on the cake but I just couldn't figure it out with just frosting.  These fabulous photos were taken by Brandi again and I LOVE them!!  She is so incredible you have to go check out her site!!  http://www.teuscherphotography.com/

 The border kind of happened by accident, but I loved how the two colors blended and made a fun pattern!

I love doing rose swirls on smash cakes.  It's so easy and give such a fun effect!

Purple Zebra Print Smash Cake

So for a long time now I have had a hard time with the color purple when it comes to cakes.  There are just so many shades and tints of purple that it can be difficult to really get the color I want.  Especially in pictures.  This cake was different.  I was able to see the purple fabrics I needed to match and my friend took the amazing pictures that show the stunning purple color beautifully!  My friend, Brandi Teuscher, took the pictures and here is her site if you want to see more of her talent!

These zebra stripes were done with butter cream frosting that I piped on then smoothed over with my frosting spatula.  It took forever but I LOVED the end result!  No fondant for smash cakes, so I had to be super detailed and careful!

 This gorgeous platter was one that Brandi had and I LOVE it!  So dainty and perfect for a little girl!

Isn't this little sweetie adorable?!  She just doesn't even know what to do with this big cake sitting in front of her!  What you can't see is the purple cake inside.  Such a fun cake to make for a milestone in this little angel's life!  

Rose Swirl 1st Birthday Smash Cake
