Teaching Degree Graduation Cake

Sometimes it's nice to do a very cute but simple cake!   This is a cake for a sweet girl who graduated with her teaching degree.  I've never done the big bows on the top of a cake, so it was fun to try one out.  I loved doing the different ribbon patterns too!
Sometime I'm going to have to invest in a sugar cricket so I can cut those letters out quicker!  These took forever!!
Letters and numbers painted on black modeling chocolate with white petal dust.  Love that stuff!

Gum paste ribbon bow!  I loved the colors and textures!

What a fun little colorful cake!  Congratulations, Ashley!!

Back-to-School apple cupcakes

Okay, so, my baby was pretty sick the last week and a half or so, so when my kids decided to have a back-to-school party and wanted a 'cake' I just didn't have the time to do anything too involved.  These didn't turn out quite like I wanted them, and they ended up being a lot of work anyway, but the kids DEVOURED them, so I guess they were worth it!
Apple spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.  They were SOOOO yummy!  Red sprinkles, tootsie roll stems and modeling chocolate leaves.  Really fun for the kids.
Kinda cute, huh?

Back-to-School Artist Cake

A better attempt at a back-to-school cake for my kids. Our boy gets to be included this year, so that is very fun for all of us! No fondant on this cake, just gum paste paint brushes and paint tubes. And of course, it's gluten free!

Back-to-School Crayons

These were last minute cakes for my daughter's first day of school. I would have liked them to have turned out better, but they tasted great and the kids loved them!

Pencil Back-to-School Cake

Yes, this is very lopsided, and the perfectionist in me looks at it now and shudders, but my girls loved this cake! What a way to get your kids excited to go back to school!
